Albert Bartlett New Haylie Fundraiser
Saturday 7th March 2015

The Spring and Autumn Loch Teams wish to thank Albert Bartlett for sponsoring the fundraiser at New Haylie on Saturday 7th March. They also wish to thank Ian Christie of Flybox and everyone who donated prizes for the raffle and all of the competitors who took part. Once again we were well looked after by George and Senga who provided quality fishing and catering.

There was a ferocious wind blowing all day that only let up when the competitors came off the water. The trout however were making the most of the conditions and while some competitors left early the fish were being caught right up to the final whistle. At the end of the day 188 trout had been caught and released.

Fundraisers

Parkview Fishery Fundraiser - 14th February

Parkview Fishery was the venue for our second fundraiser and was organised once again by Wullie Simpson. Jim and Edna at Parkview made sure that there were plenty of quality trout to be caught and plenty of quality food to refresh the 20 competitors at the halway point. A total of 84 fish were caught and the final cast of the day saw Neill Barrett land a superb trout of 10lbs. That fish took Neill to a total of 13 making him the winner by one fish from Davy Nicholson who had 12. In third place was Murray Hunter with 9.

The 2015 International teams wish to thank Wullie Simpson for running this event and Jim and Edna for making Parkview Fishery available for the fundraiser and for providing prizes. Fishing at Parkview can be booked by phoning 01337831810. The teams also wish to thank everyone who donated prizes or bought raffle tickets and they also wish to thank all of the competitors who made the day a success.

SANACC Internationals Loch Teams Fundraiser Cup
Markle - 7th February 2015

The 2015 fundraisers started at Markle on Saturday 7th February where 51 anglers fished for the SANACC International Loch Teams Fundraiser Cup. This is very much a social event with many of the competitors from last year again taking the opportunity to dust off their equipment for the first time in months. It was good to see everybody getting back together again in anticipation of the season to come.

Prospects earlier in the week were pretty bleak with Markle frozen over but Jonathan and his staff broke up the ice on Thursday and with the sun warming the water during the day they were able to make sure that the fundraiser went ahead on Saturday.

Once again this fundraiser was run by Jock Kettles and Nigel Burns who organised the fishing, prizes, raffle, auctions and just about everything else. Never mind the competition, it was worth going to Markle on Saturday just for catering. The lentil soup provided by Nigel's wife refreshed everyone who was feeling the chill and the pies put on by the staff at Markle were absolute quality. It was worth the entry fee for the lunch alone.

On behalf of the 2015 loch teams we wish to thank Fishers, Flybox, ND Barrett Electrical, James Haig & Sons, Daiwa, FAFA-Linlithgow Loch and Celtic Property Poland everyone who put in prizes or provided sponsorship and once more thanks to all the competitors who took part and to the staff at Markle for their patience, conversation and support (and of course the pies). Details of fishing at Markle can be viewed at www.marklefisheries.com and fishing can be booked at 01620861213.

The fishing was hard but there are always one or two who manage to outwit the trout. Top rod was Sandy Page who was well out on his own with a catch of 8 fish. Sandy received a rod, reel, fleece and cap along with the trophy. David Tyrie was second with 4 trout and he received a Scierra Kenai Boat Bag. In third place, having caught his first fish at 9.30am, was Wullie Leach with 3 trout. Wullie received an Agility Net.

There were three tagged trout and the winners of the £50 tagged trout draw were Brian Mackenzie, Stevie Cochrane and Neill Duff.
