Spring Fly Fishing International
Rutland Water, England
16th May 2025
The dry and bright conditions which were prevalent throughout the spring continued during the international week at Rutland. During the practice sessions all four countries appeared to have identified which areas were holding fish and just as importantly which areas weren't.
On match day some areas were pretty congested and it was difficult to tell which country was going to come out on top. As the boats returned at the end of the match it looked like England were looking confident. They were first to go to the scales and their 185 trout for 367lb 9oz earned them the gold medal. Scotland took the silver with 177 trout for 347lb 10oz. Ireland were third with 108 trout and Wales were fourth with 99 trout.
