The thunder and lightning around the country on the evening of Saturday 21st June 2025 passed over the Lake of Menteith and for safety reasons the committee on duty that night cut the session short.  However prior to that an angler was disqualified resulting in his team also being disqualified. There were ten teams taking part and they caught a total of  26 fish.   The top team on the night was Grimm Anglers "A"  with 5  fish for 16lb 6.5oz.  They were represented by Craig Inglis (2 fish), Scott Pozzi (2 fish) and Billy Marsland (1 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 5 fish for 15lb 3.7oz were Johnston FF  "A" represented by Michael Ward (2 fish),  Stevie Plank and Bobby Quinn (3 fish).  In third with 6 fish for 13lb 10oz were Glencoe FF "A" represented by Scott Henderson (3 fish),  Ally Kennedy and Robert Wilson (3 fish).   Black Bull FFC  "A" represented by William Davidson, Jamie McLeary (1 fish) and Mike Burke (2 fish) were fourth.  The top four teams qualified for the semi-final on 15th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 4lb 10.9oz and was caught by Calum Fraser of Gartmore Aberfoyle & District.

The top six individuals qualified for the Champion of Champions and they were

1.  Bobby Quinn of Johnstone FF with 3 fish for 8lb 7.1oz
2.  Allan Szaray of ABC&D with 3 fish for 8lb 5.6oz
3.  Scott Henderson of Glencoe FF with 3 fish for 7lb 2.8oz

The weather forecast for the Saturday evening on 14th June was for torrential rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and it looked unlikely that the heat of the Scottish Club Championship scheduled to be held that night would be able to go ahead.  However the thunder and lightning bypassed Menteith and the eleven teams fished their session with overcast skies and a light wind.  There were 32 anglers in the teams and they caught a total of  106 fish.   The top team on the night was Neilston FF "A"  with 17 fish for 38lb 9.1oz.  They were represented by Brian Mackenzie (5 fish), Tom Burnett (5 fish) and Peter Cameron (7 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 15 fish for 36lb 7.9oz were Black Bull FFC  "A" represented by Peter Allan (3 fish),  Ian Wright (6 fish) and George Armour (6 fish).  In third with 15 fish for 36lb 6.6oz were Select FF "A" represented by Brian Fletcher (6 fish),  Alex Grant (2 fish) and Craig Hewitson (7 fish).   Harelaw FF  "A" represented by Shug Shaw (4 fish), Barry Lennon (4 fish) and Andy Grey (5 fish) were fourth.  The top four teams qualified for the semi-final on 15th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 5lb 8.5oz and was caught by Brian Munro of Dunfermline Rusty Nail

Fish were capped at 4lb and trout weighing  5lb 8.5oz, 5lb 3oz and four over 4lbs were brought to the scales.


The top six individuals qualified for the Champion of Champions and they were:-

The first section of the Scottish Club Championship was completed on Saturday 7th June with the 20 teams that qualified from that section going through to the semi-final on 8th August.  Eleven teams contested heat 5 and the 33 anglers caught a total of 121 fish.  It was a cold evening with most of the competitors finding it difficult.  The top team on the night was Perth RASC "A" with 22 fish for 49lb 15.4oz.  They were represented by Andrew Kemp (4 fish), Grant Sutherland (10 fish) and Douglas Beckett (8 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 18 fish for 44lb 8.7oz were Balfron Piscatorials "A" represented by Bob Robertson (8 fish),  Adam King (6 fish) and Brad Gair (4 fish).  In third with 18 fish for 41.lb 15.6oz were Lintrathen FF "A" represented by Neil Anderson (4 fish),  Alan Ramshaw (7 fish) and Barry Robertson (7 fish).   East Kilbride AC "A" represented by Adam Jukes (3 fish), Craig McKean (6 fish) and Willia Winning (5 fish) were fourth.  The top four teams qualified for the semi-final on 8th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 6lb 13.1oz and was caught by Ryan Mathieson of Leslie & Glenrothes AC

Fish were capped at 4lb and trout weighing  6lb 13.1oz and eight over 4lbs were brought to the scales.


The top six individuals qualified for the Champion of Champions and they were:

1.  Grant Sutherland of Perth RASC with 10 fish for 23lb 9.3oz
2.  Bob Robertson of Balfron Piscatorials with 8 fish for 19lb 10.2oz

Eight teams took part in the fourth of the Saturday night heats and the 24 anglers caught a total of 121 fish.  It wasn't an easy night and as the competitors assembled for the briefing the rain arrived accompanied by a brisk wind.  Conditions settled shortly after the session started but by 8.15pm the heavy rain and wind returned.  The top team on the night was Balfron Piscatorials "B" with 42 fish for 88lb 5oz.  They were represented by Calum Stephen (20 fish), Bradie Heggie (12 fish) and Blaine O'Donnell (10 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 26 fish for 60lb 0.1oz were Snowbee Albacats "B" represented by Mark Fleming (4 fish),  Joseph Wood  (10 fish) and Gregor Fleming (12 fish).  In third with 16 fish for 39lb 5.2oz were Military Veterand FFC "A" represented by John Maestri (5 fish),  Graeme Fetguson (2 fish) and Glen Lamont (9 fish).   Dalzell AC "B" represented by Ross Carnegie (7 fish), Jim Donnelly (2 fish) and Sam Harrison (6 fish) were fourth.  The top four teams qualified for the semi-final on 8th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 7lb 9.8oz and was caught by Calum Stephen of Balfron Piscatorials.

Fish were capped at 4lb and trout weighing  7lb 9.8oz, 6lb 2.4oz, 5lb 4.6, 4lb 14.7oz, 4lb 12.4oz, 4lb 12oz, 4lb 2.5oz and 4lb 2.4oz were brought to the scales.


The top six individuals qualified for the Champion of Champions and they were:-

1.  Calum Stephen of Balfron Piscatorials with 20 trout for 42lb 14oz
2.  Gregor Fleming of Snowbee Albacats with 12 trout for 25lb 9.5oz

Nine teams took part in the third of the Saturday night heats and the 26 anglers caught a total of 100 fish.  The evening started off overcast with a brisk wind and as the session progressed the wind eased and by the end of the match it was raining. The top team on the night was Greys Menteith Ospreys "A" with 27 fish for 58lb 4.9oz.  They were represented by Martin McCafferty (13 fish), Michael Low (6 fish) and Ronnie Gilbert (8 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 17 fish for 39lb 21.6oz were Snowbee Albacats "A" represented by Greig Davie (4 fish),  Jim Mckinlay  (8 fish) and Stevie Welsh (5 fish).  In third with 15 fish for 37lb 0.7oz were West Linton AC "A" represented by George Charters (2 fish),  Mike Devenney (7 fish) and Gordon Leavy (6 fish).   Dalzell AC "A" represented by Stevie Whitehead (4 fish), Kenny Gray (3 fish) and Eck Moffat (2 fish) were fourth.  The top four teams qualified for the semi-final on 8th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 5lb 1.9oz and was caught by Jim Mckinlay of Snowbee Albacats.

Fish were capped at 4lb and trout weighing  5lb 1.9oz, 5lb 0.4oz, 4lb 9.1oz, 4lb 7.1oz and 4lb 6.3oz were brought to the scales.


The top six individuals going through to the Champion of Champions were:-

Ten teams took part in the second of the Saturday night heats and the 30 anglers caught a total of 150 fish.  The top team on the night was Firecats "B" with 36 fish for 72lb 7.9oz.  They were represented by Kenni Hope(10 fish), Campbell Cree(17 fish) and Dominic McAvoy (9 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 20 fish for 43lb 2.4oz were Costa Ecosse "A" represented by Murray Hunter(3 fish),  Gus Armour (10 fish) and Andy Smith (7 fish).  In third with 19 fish for 41lb 6.7oz were Stranraer & District AA "A" represented by Harris Campbell (6 fish),  Calum Crosbie (10 fish) and Kevin McIntyre (3 fish).   Lochgilphead & District AC "A" represented by Archie MacGilp (4 fish), James Montgomery (10 fish) and George Mitchell were fourth.  The top four teams qualified for the semi-final on 8th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 7lb 5.6oz and was caught by Stuart McDonald of Strathleven FF.

Ten teams took part in the first of the Saturday night heats and the 30 anglers caught a total of 131 fish.  The top team on the night was Heriot AC "A" with 26 fish for 58lb 2.4oz.  They were represented by Keith Logan(15 fish), Darrell Young (4 fish) and Jimmy McBride (7 fish) and each of them received a box of flies provided by My Fishing Flies and as a team they also received a £30 voucher provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific.  In second place with 19 fish for 43lb 11.7oz were Team Flybox "A" represented by Kyle Courtney(11 fish),  Alex Bowler (3 fish) and Kevin Andrews (5 fish).  In third with 15 fish for 35lb 9.3oz were Firecats "A" represented by Calum Clark (7 fish),  Martyn Shaw (2 fish) and Allan Barbour (6 fish).  Aberdeen & District AA "A" represented by Paul Toseland(5 fish),  Ernie Mackay (6 fish) and Graeme McPherson (4 fish) were fourth.  These four teams qualified for the semi-final on 8th August.  The heaviest fish on the night weighed 5lb 14.2oz and was caught by Scott Reith of Arbroath AC.
